Manila, Philippines
This photoshoot is very memorable to me.
First, we did this session on the eve of the New Year 2018. It was a very short notice photoshoot. The night before, Ms. Almonds, an advocator of breastfeeding, contacted me and booked me for a photoshoot. Second, this was my first time to have a client requesting for a breastfeeding photoshoot (the family portrait is just on the side).
The stigma against breastfeeding in public here in the Philippines is still real, and probably in most parts of the world. Thus, this photoshoot is very empowering to all breastfeeding mothers. To breastfeed means to nurture your child at its best. To breastfeed your child until he reached 4 years of age is something worth celebrating for. It is lovely to have this kind of photo so that when years passed you could relive the moment and see one of the greatest milestones you've had with your children.
The genuineness of the emotions and their love for each can definitely be seen in these photos. I would totally love to have another portrait session with this family in the future.
The story behind the paper flower crown: Ms. Almonds is the founder and owner of Papelazzi, a paper florist in the Philippines. All of her products are hand made by her.
